Guest guest
Who is felton etc: No website, they are just researchers in London who did an interesting study. But as clogged arteries seems less important than I realised as mentioned earlier in the thread, I am now less interested in this particular study and line of thinking. But will, when I have time, look on pubmed to see if any new studies have been done similar to the felton one which is ten years old now. Felton CV, son JC, Godsland IF. Guest guest
Thanks, I guess you're referring to: Felton, Carl V; Crook, ; Davies, J; Oliver, F. Dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids and composition of human aortic plaques. Lancet. 344(8931):1195-1196, October 29, 1994. Felton, Carl V; Crook, ; Davies, M J; Oliver, M F Dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids and aortic plaques. Lancet. 345(8944):256-257, January 28, 1995. FWIW, I have no argument with those articles looking at the full text (which include fish oil), but let me suggest you read the following full text as well: Crawford, Dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids and aortic plaques. Lancet. 345(8944):256-257, January 28, 1995. To summarize: As I see it the suggestion is that if I look at 9 dead people who have athero plaque and it contains x and y fatty acids, I can conclude x and y caused the plaque. So that cause/effect relationship is what is disputed. {Perhaps rightfully so, since many people subsist on fish and have little CVD. } Of course, on CR, it is my impression that many use monounsaturated when we want to add oil energy and a minimal amount of Omega 6 as in LA since it is the essential fatty acid. Some eat meats, some eat fish, but not to the extent it would accumulate in arteries. At least that is our hope. My feeling is if I control intake to burn all the calories I eat, there is less likelihood plaque will form. But that's just my opinion. I minimize all fats.
