what you mean is minimizing your calories, not your nutrients.

Correct. I just deplore thinking that food should taste good as a req't for nutrition. That one fact has held back the advance of good diets by the medical world, the excuse being they won't do the diet if it is too "strict" or "spartan". I don't view a lacto veg diet as too strict,eg.

I encourage everyone to do a harris benedict evolution to determine their energy needs.

I would be careful with this train of thought. This is the kind of statement you might find on an anorexic website.Too much food is the enemy as is too little.
