Guest guest
Oh my goodness, Sue!! You have so much on your plate. I will keep you and your Angel Nell in my prayers to the Creator. Love & Hugs Cyn Boyd Blue Lark Sakima Iowa -- update Everyone, I have been meaning to update everyone with what has been going on with me and around me but by the end of the day I just do not have the energy to write it all down. touched on it a bit today with her email she sent to the group. It has taken me forever to recover from my surgery. Much longer than I thought. Still a lot of pain. I notice that the last couple days the right side looks red and inflamed around the lower incision and a tear that was healing looks like it is opening again. Exhaustion has been a problem. I am completely off the Ativan. I was sleeping fine but with the stress of late I am not sleeping at all. I fall asleep around 4 or 5 and never sleep very deeply. My Naturopathic doctor is now gone and I have not been to the new one yet. I feel a bit shy. Nell is going to need to go soon though. Since just before my surgery my daughter Nell hit a crisis. For those of you who don't know about her she has a serious Anxiety Disorder, OCD, phobias, Avoidance Personality Disorder, she is school Phobic among other things. She is also brilliant, funny, very gifted, beautiful and suffering. Not getting into the legal battle that we have been in with our terrible school system that has violated her civil rights, a program we agreed to try (Jeff and I were very doubtful) to help to reintegrate her into school (for the sake of not be the obstructing parents) failed Nell miserably. She could not take another failure nor more people failing her. So here we are the same place as last year only she is in worse shape. She said to me " I think some people are born to kill themselves. I think I am one of those people. Maybe my purpose is when I die the people who have not listened will listen to the next person who needs them." I have had her seeing her therapist twice a week and I made a call to her legal team and her educational consultant and said " She is going to New Haven. I wanted her to go a year ago now it is non negotiable." So on December 7th Nell will be leaving for this wonderful therapeutic boarding school in Utah. She is scared but relieved to be going. I am relieved and scared too. She is a 24/7 job right now. She is up and down. Clings to me, cries, is fine even had a violent episode ( the first in a very long time). I am exhausted. I use up all my reserves helping her, taking her places ( her therapist want her out of the house a lot), counseling, worrying, dealing with my own anxiety/panic and using all my DBT skills I posses. It has been a long 15 years. For her and for me. I am very proud of how brave she is and how she is taking this on. Jeff and I are going to have to fly out to Utah every other month for family therapy weekends. Starting January. Leave Wednesday. Then work Thursday 9-5, Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-1. We return home on Sunday. We have figured out it is going to cost 2,000 a trip. How we are going to pay for this I have no idea. Of course when we sue the school for the cost of the school this will be added but until then we have to pay this along with a house sitter for all the animals. That is 12,000 dollars a year. Just on travel. Never mind just wanting to go for things like her birthday and other special events. I have been so worried and upset. I cried at Mondays IEP. Albeit quietly. I have never done that before. Sorry so long. I have tried to keep it a short as possible and explain. Thanks all for reading. hugs, Sue by Elke Saint - Prix owner Join me mail Oktober 2009 dont rip my letter graphik / Tubes groupshare

Guest guest
Hi Tess, Poor you! As far as I understand it excess T3 is just part of the whole hyper thing and theoretically, if your T4 goes down then your T3 should eventually go down too. The propranalol should start to inhibit T4 to T3 conversion- it did for me,but I was hypo and it made me fell much worse. > Subject: Update> > Hi all,> > I got home from hospital on Saturday after another bout of Diverticulitis, its settled down now apart from thrush with> all the antibiotics.> Unfortunately I`ve also been told to stop the PTU and Thyroxine> Anyway bowel surgeon then got an endo from hospital I was in to have> a look at me and he said stop them right away.> I`m taking the magnesium every day (thanks Sheila)but still getting> palpitations, also have higher dose of Propanol now.> So thats all my news. feel like I`m in limbo now.> Hope everyone on here is doing ok.> > Love Tess> > > > ------------------------------------> > TPA is not medically qualified. Guest guest
Yes..beyond affection..when Szuki died I developed an extra heartbeat that showed up on the EKGs. I liked to think that there were two hearts beating as one! I loved Szuki like my own flesh and blood..she was an extraordinary dog..more than a dog actually and altho it's hard to explain without having met her, everyone who did meet her commented on that. She was one of 5 dogs that was in a clinical trial at St 's Hospital that changed NY State law so therapy dogs could work in acute care hospitals across NY State. She was a pioneer! She also was the Friends of Animals mascott when they did a demonstration at Rockerfeller Center and Szuki who howled like a wolf on command, wore a sign (please don't kill my cousins the wolves) and sang her little heart out all afternoon. She was even invited to sing on a jazz radio show!!! What a special girl she was. I miss her to this day. In a message dated 2/7/2010 3:15:00 P.M. Guest guest
Yep:) Generally cravings mean there's something your body needs. When cows start chewing the pasture rails or other non food things, the farmer or rancher knows they need mineral/salt blocks. People are the same. Crave sugary treats and salt? Your adrenals may be stressed, same for coffee, tea, and ciggies. They're stimulants. That may be the reason why so many people have such a hard time trying to quit smoking, other than the nicotine addiction, it could be the adrenal issues. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the information, ...I believe what you said about sticking with iodine and the payoff in the long run...It's just so unfortunate to have to endure such a " painful " side effect. Guest guest
I was talking with a lady who had been prescribed certain tablets. She had been on them for a year. When I checked to see what they were for and likely adverse effects I discovered that they should only be used for up to 8 weeks!! I wonder how often this takes place. With the internet it is possible to see this sort of error. david From: lookonthebriteside <slehr05@...>Subject: Re: updateiodine Date: Monday, 29 March, 2010, 19:41 I wouldn't be surprised if there are damaging effects from anti depressants (especially fluoxetine/Prozac) ...However, the only thing doctors would do for me since 1991 when my symptoms started, is prescribe antidepressants, and I have to say, they certainly didn't fix the problems, but without them, getting out of bed would have been nearly impossible. They did provide some relief. And I don't think it was a placebo effect. I actually participated in a drug study for an anti depressant. I'm certain I got placebo because I felt no different.> > > > >> > > > >> > > > > I decided to take Cal-Mag citrate (4 grams) and a gram of mag > > citrate> > > > > extra. Guest guest
isn't amino acid L-trypthophan connected with serotonin production? david From: Baker <vbaker@...>Subject: Re: Re: updateiodine Date: Monday, 29 March, 2010, 19:48 >Well, what is the remedy for serotonin deficiency? Anti depressants are >the only thing I can think of...Somehow I don't think anti depressants >would be recommended by this group.I believe that a lot of ailments in our society are related to serotonin deficiency, which is related to demineralization of the soils and constant stress, including lack of true darkness which inhibits melatonin production which in turn affects serotonin production. I think the form one's serotonin-deficienc y ailment takes is related to environmental and genetic factors. I take a supplement called 5-HTP, which furnishes the brain with the direct precursor to serotonin, effectively flooding the brain with serotonin. So whereas SSRI drugs and the like conserve whatever serotonin a person has in their brain, that's not all that helpful if you don't have enough to start with. I believe this is also possibly the reason why SSRIs stop working for a lot of people, is that they just don't have any serotonin left to conserve. Studies have shown 5-HTP to be more effective than prozac, and without side effects.I think being faithful to the iodine protocol will eventually repair my body's capacities and I am very excited about those potentials. For 10 years I managed my fibromyalgia with 5-HTP, until a couple of years of unremitting stress coupled with major new stressors resulted in a health crash last fall. That's when I found LDN (hello, endorphins!) and the iodine protocol (hello, building block of all hormones in the body!). I'm actually glad for the health crash because I believe I am now on a better, more fundamentally effective path for wellness. But I still need the 5-HTP, for now.with best wishes,--~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~--A.J. Muste

Guest guest
One way the body gets 5-HTP is that tryptophan is converted into 5-HTP and waste metabolites that are actually known bladder and kidney carcinogens. Tryptophan is one of the rarest amino acids, and some people think that's a good thing based on these metabolites. So if you supplement with 5-HTP directly instead of with tryptophan, you're saving your body the work of converting it, and sparing the body the work of detoxifying the waste products. 5-HTP supplement is made from the extract of the seeds of the Griffonia plant, native to South Africa. -- >isn't amino acid L-trypthophan connected with serotonin production? >david ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Guest guest
I have been on a roller-coaster with SSRI's since 1995. A doctor intimidated me during a time when I was vulnerable and full of grief and anger and sadness, and instead of helping me with the problem, he pushed Prozac on me. I haven't been the same since. After 2 years they stopped " doing their thing " and I ended up severely depressed (clinically depressed vs. the sadness I had experienced prior to the Prozac). It " did " something to my brain. I ended up in the hospital. After a few different trials, I ended up on Paxil, which I took until 2005, when IT TOO " stopped working. " I went into such a severe depression, I had to quit work. Was hospitalized twice. I was suicidal. No medication was working now. I tried dozens. Had ECT (shock treatments). Nothing worked. A new doctor finally, just this past December, came up with a new combo of meds that appears to be helping me (otherwise, I wouldn't even be typing this right now). During these last 5 years of this severe depression, I tried every natural thing under the sun. Seriously. Lots of them and in huge quantities. I consulted with Naturopaths. I did Acupuncture. Nothing worked and I BELIEVE it's because the SSRI did permanent damage to my neurotransmitter system in my brain. Just my opinion, based on what I experienced and my gut. But I was never really depressed before I went on the Prozac in the first place. AFTER, THAT was real depression. I now know the difference. If I could get off these meds, I would, believe me. But I have yet to find a natural alternative that works for me. I warn people not to go on SSRI's frivolously. If you are just " down " do not let your doctor talk you into taking an Anti-depressant. They are horrible and even when they don't work, you cannot just go off them because you have become dependent on them and go through serious withdrawal from them. Guess I'm ranting now. Sorry. Thanks for listening. I'm feeling good now, knock on wood, but the last 5 years were hell. On a technical note: L-Tryptophan is the amino acid that is the precursor to Serotonin. Your body takes the L-Tryptophan and converts it to the 5-HTP. So, when you buy and take 5-HTP (which somehow they have managed to get from a plant source), you are just by-passing that first conversion your body would have to do. So it is better than the L-Tryptophan. And also, did you know that the largest portion of your neurotransmitters are found in your intestinal tract? (not your brain). So any problem you may have in that area can affect your mood. IBS, Crohn's, Colitis, diarrhea, constipation, leaky gut syndrome, etc. Beverly > > > From: Baker <vbaker@...> > Subject: Re: Re: update > iodine > Date: Monday, 29 March, 2010, 19:48 > > >  > > > > > >Well, what is the remedy for serotonin deficiency? Guest guest
Beverly,Since I have gone gluten free I have no more depression. It took about 3 to 4 months but I no longer take my cymbalta. What a diffference in the way I felt taking gluten out of my life. Maybe you should try it. from IllinoisFrom: Beverly53 <beebie10@...>To: iodine Sent: Mon, March 29, 2010 11:24:54 PMSubject: Re: update  I have been on a roller-coaster with SSRI's since 1995. Guest guest
What about 5HTP? It's an amino acid that boosts Serotonin naturally. > > Well, what is the remedy for serotonin deficiency? Anti depressants are the only thing I can think of...Somehow I don't think anti depressants would be recommended by this group. > > > >
