Guest guest
Ok I have had this reactive arthritis thing for like 6 years now. Haven't had much luck with the doctors. A couple of them even said there wasn't anything wrong with me. Im hla-b27 positive thats all they found in my blood. Had inflammation bad in my urethra, and prostate. Then I got the full blown fever along with really bad inflammation in my feet, ankles, knees, elbows, wrists, fingers. Was bed ridden for a year. The fever lasted like a week, but I always had this low grade hot feeling for like 2 years after the first flare up. The inflammation in my elbows and knees also went away like 1-2 years after the initial flare up. But my feet and ankles are always hot and feel like their on fire ever since the first flare up for 6 years now. Well a few weeks ago I had a flare up that involved my knees and elbows again bringing back the bad memory of the start of this chronic disease. Sorry to say I didn't take any meds and thought id ride out this inflammation like I did when I first got this reiters syndrome. It put a hurting on my knees and elbows once again just like the first flare up in these joints. Im kinda worried after I read stuff about reactive arthritis that it can effect heart valves like rheamatic fever does? I can feel the damage this has done on my joints and am worried about my heart valves I guess? This is kind of a wierd thing to talk about. I have read that 10 percent of people will have heart valve issues ? Is this really true? Does anyone know of how many cases of heart valve disorders are related to reiters syndrome? Has anyone on this forum went thru any of this?
Guest guest
Hi, I have AS and yes, my heart valves did have involvement which is more rare for a woman. I have mitral valve prolapse and then regurgitation, whic eventually led to fast heart rate called tachycardia. I am on a medication called Cardiazem at maximum dose and every now and then, it still goes over. I have had one time that I went into full arrest about two years ago. I amunder 50 so yes, it can be scarey and we have to defend ourselves to watch things. e Reactive arthritis " " " " heart valves? " " " " " " Should I be worried? ----------------------------------------------------------- | > Ok I have had this reactive arthritis thing for like 6 years now.
