Guest guest
Hi folks: " Dietary cholesterol linked to ovarian cancer Nov. 9, 2004 A study suggested that intake of too much dietary cholesterol increases the risk of ovarian cancer. In the study, dietary information was collected from 442 ovarian cancer patients and 2,135 controls during the period of 1994 to 1997. In comparison to those in the lowest quartile of cholesterol intake, those in the second, third and forth quartiles increased their odds of getting ovarian cancer by 12 percent, 20, and 42 percent respectively. Higher egg consumption also increases the odds. The study also found that intake of the highest amount of total vegetable and cruciferous vegetables reduced the risk of ovarian cancer by up to 25% compared to those who consumed the lowest amount. Intake of vitamin E, beta-carotene and B-complex vitamins for more than ten years reduced the risk by 50 percent, 70 percent, and 40 percent respectively. On the other hand, the study did not find any link between ovarian cancer with intake of dietary fats, proteins, carbohydrates, fruits, dairy products, meats, fish, chicken, grain products, nuts and many others. The study was published in the Journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention. " Rodney.
