For those of you who get " Parade " Magazine with your Sunday paper, there are

a flurry of " food " news items on pp 24 and 25 (We get some of our Sunday

paper on Saturday).

This one is about Blueberries: " Blueberries - a good source of antioxidants

also may help break down cholesterol and fat, as studies on rat cells at the

U.S. Department of Agriculture's Laboratories in Oxford, Miss found.

Pterostilbene, a compound in the berries may prove to be a potent weapon in

the battle against heart disease " .

This one is about coffee: " Two to four cups of coffee a day may lower the

risk of liver disease, cancer, clogged arteries, Parkinson's disease,

Alzheimer's and diabetes, according to a report presented recently at the

New York Academy of Sciences. Coffee experts say that each cup is actually

a complex mixture of active compounds, including healthful antioxidants. "

My, my this last bit about coffee makes it sound like the wonder food.
