Guest guest
Hi folks: " Exercise Increases Immunity in Older Men Men 65 and older who exercise regularly can better battle antigenic challenge than sedentary older men, and their immune response was equal to that of active younger men, according to a study published in the August 2004 Journal of Applied Physiology. Monika Fleshner, MD, and colleagues at the University of Colorado studied the immune system response of 46 physically active and sedentary younger (ages 20 to 35) and older (ages 60 to 79) men by twice injecting them with a benign substance during a month to measure the immune response in the blood. The sedentary men had not exercised regularly in the two years prior to baseline; physically active men exercised at least three times per week for two or more years. The blood tests showed that older active seniors had significantly higher immune system responses than sedentary seniors, and that the immune response matched that of the younger men. " Rodney.
