Guest guest
This is very inspiring. I recently learned a lot about Sufferring in Church and I keep forgetting what initially was said in that speech. It is okay though, because every day God gives me a new perspective on sufferring that does not replace the first speech but fulfills it with new information to bring me forward. I have seen many miracles like the one this ant carried out. If such a small creature can carry out such a large miracle for God, then surely all of us can do much more. With our problems we may barely carry our own weight throughout the day versus an ant carrying 100 times their own weight daily, but perhaps it is symbolic of us carrying the weight of the world for God. Guest guest
A little devotional book for anyone going through suffering is " Streams in the Desert, Vol. 1 " by Mrs. Cowman. A classic! An elderly lady gave me a copy many years ago, and I read it for 4 years during an extremely difficult time in my life. You might check it out on ebay or amazon.com or bn.com. It has very short readings, but such comforting thoughts and verses - they almost make sense out of suffering! Mrs. Cowman lost her husband after only a few years of marriage, so she was no stranger to suffering. Her compilation of readings was wonderful. Dom > > This is very inspiring. Guest guest
I highly recommend a little book (classic) called " Streams in the Desert, Vol. 1 " by Mrs. Cowman for anyone going through suffering, pain or hard times. There is a short reading for each day. I read it for 4 years during a really hard time in my life. It was very comforting, and gives you strength to make it to the next day. You may be able to find it used (cheaper) on ebay, amazon.com or bn.com. As far as I know, it's only in hardback. Dom > > This is very inspiring. This will be a great daily book for me. Thank you. I do have a ? though...is it by L.B. Cowman & Reimann? Want to make sure I have the correct book. Thanks again. Guest guest
I compared it with my " Streams in the Desert, Volume 1 " book, but it is not the same. The one I have is written by his wife, " Mrs. Cowman " - see http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=48400 & netp_id=12790\ 2 & event=ESRCN & item_code=WW & view=covers#curr My personal copy is marked up, underlined, and highlighted. So many days, it was like hearing from God Himself. But it's not a book for general consumption. I was going through horrible fiery trials of every kind during the 4 years I was reading it, and it spoke to me. For example, an excerpt from the reading for April 26: " When we are called aside and can only suffer; when we are sick; when we are consumed with pain; when all our activities have been dropped, we feel that we are no longer of use, that we are not doing anything. But, if we are patient and submissive, it is almost certain that we are a greater blessing to the world in our time of suffering and pain than we were in the days when we thought we were doing the most of our work.
