Guest guest
Hi : I would imagine this is most probably a unique property of doxycycline. So even if other foods have antibiotic effects I doubt they would prevent cancer. Of course this is all unknown until it is studied properly. Bear in mind also that the more of a given type of antibiotic you take the less effective it becomes. My impression is that the less you have to use antibiotics the better. So that when you eventually really have a need to use them, they have a good chance of working. Guest guest
You're saying that one might prevent one form of cancer, and allow other forms to develop, maybe more rapidly? we're talking one in seven: "Estimates suggest that the gene may contribute to as many as one in seven cancer deaths. To richard's question, look in medline and duke's database and you'll find thousands of herbs, etc that do something to cancer. The one consistent advisement is to eat a variety of veggies, fruits. http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/penG_doxy/QA_doxy.htm 1. What is doxycycline?Doxycycline is an antibiotic medicine belonging to the class called "tetracyclines." It is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It does not treat viral infections, such as the common cold. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a682063.html Why is this medication prescribed? Doxycycline is used to treat bacterial infections, including pneumonia, lyme disease, acne, venereal (sexually transmitted) diseases, and inhalational anthrax (after exposure). It also is used to prevent malaria. Doxycycline is in a class of medications called tetracycline antibiotics. It works by preventing the growth and spread of bacteria. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rodney Sent: Tuesday, October 12, 2004 5:52 AMSubject: [ ] Re: antibiotics/doxycycline/cancerHi :I would imagine this is most probably a unique property of doxycycline.
