Hi All,

What has happened today?

Princess Alice of British royalty dies at an age

of 102 years.

There was a good deal at our grocery store today.

Pumpkins were $0.00/kg, after Mom had bought about

18 pounds yesterday. I must have about 40 more on

our patio floor outside, where our temperatures have

been a little short of normal temperatures. The

pumpkins on my walk along Kitsuksis Creek must be

500+ pounds. The nearby garden of a hobby farmer

has had his 1000+ plenty of pounds of pumpkins win

contests in the US. A crane is needed to hoist them.

We have a bumper crop here, while in the Prairie

Provinces, their cold wet summer destroyed theirs.

Autumnal leaves are magnificent. They change slowly

since we have had no frost. Their apoptosis,

analogous to that of our CR lifestyle, is to good

purpose: to ensure deciduous survival. We

have plenty of coniferous trees to take us through

the night of winter. And Spring comes early, so

early, here, compared with the Rock,

Newfoundland.

My brother will go next January to Alberta for his

operation to correct his high hearing loss due to

fusion of the bones in the left inner ear that transmit

sounds into nervous impulses to the brain. It is an

an advantage of the Canadian health care system

that allows him to get the operation without expense.

I do fine. My weight has been 97 pounds naked

bladder-voided upon rising. My injured hips

improve to the point where I am now able to

sleep on both sides at night.

I hope to get pilchards soon. The fish have

apparently avoided the warmer local waters

for those further north. 40 pounds should do

me until next fishing season.

Daylight Savings Time begins tonight. I will

enjoy the early morning daylight. Where I sit

in front of my computer until about 7 pm faces

the east and I have a window in front of me.

In the evening, having more nighttime darkness

is in keeping with getting into the sleeping mode

for the evening.

Al Pater
