Guest guest
Every year for so long I would get sick from school starting and the spread of viruses. I used to hate Christmas simply because I could never engage in it and enjoy it. Every year my kids would bring some virus home to me right at the start of the school year and by the time Christmas came I had a high fever and was dillerious, couldn't remember a thing. I missed so many Christmases because of that. Last year was the first Christmas I remembered. The reason I figured out was because I had taken my children out of school at the beginning of that school year and started homeschooling them. It never really occurred to me that I was doing myself a favor by homeschooling, but I didn't get sick in September, and any virus I caught was from the wind blowing in from the north. Since I live in Texas, it isn't cold for long, and usually not too extreme during the winter months. It was the first Christmas that year in many months that I was off the couch, no fever, no dementia, and I was low on energy, but could still enjoy Christmas. I was very happy for that. Not being able to think clearly or keep good records anymore, I hadn't noticed that I was actually benefiting from taking my children out of school until Christmas came and I had noticed that I hadn't lost my voice, hadn't gotten strep throat, and wasn't as stressed, and wasn't laying on the couch nearly needing an er visit due to 104 fever. I am so happy that this year I am going to be able to enjoy another Christmas that I will be able to remember afterwards. What little memories I have are precious to me and making new ones with my kids and Husband even more so. This is what I am thankful for this holiday season. How about you? Guest guest
Stacie - Me too! I started to dread the holidays because I was ALWAYS SICK! I'm a piano teacher and sit in close proximity with all kinds of sit kids, plus there are the extra Christmas music practices, being out in public buying gifts, etc. Then when the weather changes (I'm in north Florida, although I grew up a Yankee in the freezing cold and snow), a respiratory virus activates and I am down for the count! Right now, I have a mild case of sinusitis/bronchitis. I say mild because I am hitting it with everything I know to get rid of it, and mercifully, I've been able to get a few days of rest and stay home. I had to quit teaching school years ago http://www.fms-help.com/fatigue.htm because I was dreadfully sick all the time because of my weak immune system. I am glad that keeping your family out of the germ pool (public school) has helped your susceptibility to these virulent viruses. My piano students are sick a LOT! They bring things home from school then pass them around the family. Teachers use anti-bacterial gels like crazy in their classrooms, but almost to no avail. - Dom > > Every year for so long I would get sick from school starting and the > spread of viruses.
