Al: first of all congratulations on your attempt to gain weight. Those of

us in the group who are aware of your condition have been quite concerned

about you.

If I were trying to gain weight, I'd add more unsalted nuts to my diet and

perhaps a " pure " nut butter and more whole grains (such as perhaps a

sandwich of whole grain pita bread, with nut butter and a pure fruit

spread). Eating more fruit is also a good option.

I find it strange that you are adding pure oil to your diet and the loose

stools should be telling you something. Listen to your body.

BTW the last time I was very sick (before CR) a nutritionist advised eating

peanut butter and jelly on crackers or on sandwiches, however not the

healthy kind - the kind of crackers with trans-fat and the peanut butter

with sugar, salt etc that you would find in a regular supermarket.

Hi All and Francesca,

1. I am cheap.

2. Oil is quicker.

3. My stools are not loose.

4. From where I come from, grains and high glycemic fruits are not

CRON-like.

Hi again Al:

Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. Hospital stays are a lot more

expensive than a few nuts or any other foods (nuts can be bought on sale

especially this time of year).

Variety, variety, variety. Where I come from (Walford country) some whole

grains and fruit are highly desirable and are correlated with good health.

Of course you are going to do what you are going to do. But before you

dismiss what I suggested bear in mind that I can't remember the last time I

even had a cold, knock wood. (never mind what you mention: a chronic

cough, serious lung infections, pneumonia and bronchitis).

Hi Francesca,

I also before reducing my weight below what 5 more pounds will

provide had almost no colds and no flu for 1 years. I had no serious

lung infections whatsoever, but had reduced my weight 37% from an ad

lib BMI of 22.3.

Cheers, Al Pater.

Hi All, That should have been 15 years. I apologize for the error.
