Guest guest
Hello all, I don't know if this post belongs to another thread, and apologize if so! I personally don't feel any pressure from friends or colleagues here in Europe to eat more than I desire. Usually a polite " would you like more? " and when I say no thanks, it is dropped. I realize that obesity is becomming a problem here as well, but at least there isn't the food-as-entertainment mentality that is so pervasive in the US. Yet. When I taught in Ohio a few years ago I was really surprised at the food pushing pressure, the quantity of food presented as a " serving " and type of stuff the industry passes off as food fit for human consumption and of course the resultanat obesity. Try to get a turkey sandwich that had anything in it resembling turkey breast. What inevitably arrived was some compressed unidentifiable mass of pinkish meat-like product. Probably ground turkey beaks, claws and Lord know what else in the mix. I switched to vegetarianism within a month. And yes Rodney, this CR list is an island of sanity for those who live in the USA. It is easier for those of us who live in Europe. At least now. best wishes to all MM
