Guest guest
I just finished watching a program on PBS about fish farming. The program mentioned that farmed fish is subject to greater pollution and concentration of toxins. Apparently, the concentration of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) are much higher in farmed fish than in wild fish. Farmed shrimp from south-east Asia may also be exposed to antibiotics that suppress diseases caused by the crowded conditions under which the shrimp are raised. The narration said that Chinese aquaculture of non-carnivorous fish is probably the most advanced and ecologically sound. Catfish farms in the US also had a good review. Here is a link from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services that discusses the PCB issues: http://www.healthfinder.gov/news/newsstory.asp?docID=516856 Tony
