Guest guest
Hi folks: " Low fat diet might protect against Alzheimer`s - study. The study also explains how type 2 diabetes is associated with Alzheimer's disease. 08/12/2004 A study suggested that use of a low-fat diet may be protective against Alzheimer`s disease. It was found that a low fat diet rich in fish and soy can stimulate production of a protein called insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE). IDE plays a role in eliminating amyloidal peptides that cause destructive plaques and tangles in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. As found in the study, IDE is not as abundantly present in Alzheimer's disease patients as in normal subjects. The study also explained why type 2 diabetes is associated with Alzheimer's disease. The study was conducted by Greg M. Cole and colleagues at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. The results were published in the Dec. 8, 2004 issue of The Journal of Neuroscience. " Rodney.
