Guest guest
I've worked out 6 days a week for the last decade, and while my motivations for sticking with it have changed, I do find it essential to my mental and physical well-being. I find that "working out" truly not only works out my body, but it also allows me to "work-out" any personal or professionals issues during my work-out time. After an hour at the gym, I find my mind clear and ready to tackle a new day with enthusiasm rather than dread. So, my vote: Any exercise is good exercise! Whether it is Nautilus, free weights, etc., etc. is just detail. My routine: 30 minutes of weights: Usually, I use free weights, but for a week every 4 to 6 weeks, I'll do Nautilus. For me, the goal is consistency...working out consistency. A bodybuilder will tell you that free weights are the only way to go, a Nautilus person will tell you the same about their routine. 30 minutes of cardio: I alternate among the treadmill, bike and elliptical trainer. My goal is to be at 70% of my maximum for at least 20 minutes. 10 minutes of stretching: At 51, I can put my knees behind my ears. Not useful for much, but it indicates how limber I am. Stretching may not have aerobic value, but it keeps my body limber.

And things like cable-crossovers were always used. 10 minutes of stretching: At 51, I can put my knees behind my ears. for me, that would amount to sudden death -- Ken
