Guest guest
In November, a former SNL comedian (Ellen Cleghorne), spent a day with me at the center, doing filming for a show to run on Discovery. The show will be on this week. EnjoyJeffHere is the promo for it. http://health.discovery.com/convergence/nationalbodychallenge2005/episodes/episode_one.html NATIONAL BODY CHALLENGE: The Skinny on Fat On TVAirs: Wed., Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. ET/PT and Sat., Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. ET/PT. OK, so we're fat. We know. It's old news that Americans eat too much and exercise too little. Look around. Mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, neighbors, bosses, and yes, even our pets are pudgy. In fact, a depressing 25 percent of dogs and cats are heavier than they should be, and airlines are actually reporting increased fuel costs just to carry around all the extra passenger weight. So, what's new? It turns out, plenty. It's time to get the skinny on fat and why we have so much of it. In this hour, our host, former Saturday Night Live cast member Ellen Cleghorne, meets world-famous heart surgeon, Dr. Mehmet Oz of Columbia Medical Center. Cleghorne also visits a clinic that is on the front line of the battle with morbid obesity and gets a tour of the Goliath Casket factory. (Did you know that some caskets are now triple the size they were just a few decades ago?) The outlook for many of us seems bleak. It's easy to put weight on and hard to take it off. We pick a diet, shoot for the stars, and then fail. Is it time to simply give up? Not on your life! There's good news and we are going to bring it to you.
