Guest guest
Hi All, I visited with my general practitioner yesterday. He had indicated that he wanted to see me regarding my lab test results from Jan. 5, 2004. My reduced coughing since about a week ago and lungs feeling great was confirmed when he listened to my lungs. My weight was up eight pounds from my Nov. 22, 2004 visit. I had neither of my two sweaters on when I was weighed. He checked for my blood pressure, which he had not checked for some time. The increased salt intake that I used to increase my blood levels of sodium and chloride. my sodium was a little better (see below) and my blood pressure was not high at 90/64 mm Hg. He checked my prostate and it was by digital exam not enlarged and had no lumps. He agreed to check PSA in the next blood tests due for early March, but forgot to check it off on the requisition slip. I can have it done if I return, which I hope to do. Regarding my overall health, I went out on Jan. 9 to Mom's friend's and our frequent evening companion's, Walt's, birthday outing at a Chinese food buffet dinner. I ate only about 250 g versus my normal about 100 g popcorn during the day, plus coffee and tea to not overconsume my vegetables and fruits. At the buffet, I had salad of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and some red onions. I also ate some cruciferous vegetable and mushrooms in the house oil base liquid. I asked for olive oil, but they had only the house probably hydrogenated vegetable oil. Therefore, I did not have the 40 g of olive/canola oil that I had been taking, nor fish, nuts nor beans and mixed grains. I was remarkably a pound less in weight for two days but am now back up the pound. I discussed my diet changes, and he recommended 110-125 pounds or more as the goal I should have, but I will determine how to proceed when I reach 100+ pounds. Decreasing the lipids in my diet is something for which I long. I now seem to be about 40% calories from fat. I prefer more complex carbohydrates for my diet. I feel very good in my general attitude and energy level. Exercise comes more easily now. My blood test results that were done and their results for my previous tests are below. My sodium is indeed improved some and I will have chloride examined in my next tests. The lower potassium indicates my somewhat lower level of vegetables in my diet. White blood cells and neutrophils are somewhat higher, maybe due to the diet changes? Lymphocytes decreased somewhat. Please provide to us your comments and suggestions regarding any of the numbers or diet changes.
