I read somewhere (sorry, long time ago, can't provide the reference for this) that plant material is mostly not digested or absorbed by cats because their intestines are not designed to do so. So if they get full eating a diet that is 80% mostly-not-digested calories then their caloric intake (absorption) is dramatically reduced. Hmmmm. Makes me think about the cats around this place.
