Guest guest
I'm throwing my flax seed out, No, give it to the local birds, I hate wasting food. JW wrote " We looked at the articles extensively and I couldn't conclude there WAS a reqt for ALA. " says " If we really needed ALA then I would be dead by now or suffering some nasty deficiency. I have never eaten ALA until the age of 33 when I had a few months of flax-fed hens eggs. Before that I will have got a little ALA from 300g broccoli daily (and as the broccoli was steamed I don`t know even if that ALA would have survived), but no more. Never touched flax seed, walnuts, any nuts for that matter. But always had fatty fish. ALA is just not something we would ever get much of naturally and certainly not in the levels you get it via flax and walnuts which would have been available a tiny part of the year. So regular high ALA (say a few hundred mg) would be alien in human evolution so we really have no idea what long term damage (or good) it will do, but as a male I would rather avoid it and stick to fish.
