Guest guest
I went to visit my great uncle today who is now a semi-invalid in an assisted-living/nursing home at the age of 84. It was lunch time . He was served a plate of chopped beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, and (over) cooked veggies. The veggies were the smallest portion of the three itmes on the plate. The meat took up most of the plate. His drink was a carton of milk and dessert was chocolate pudding with a dollop of whipped topping. No fresh vegetables and.or fresh fruit in sight although of course that may be served somewhere at breakfast or dinner. And perhaps it may be difficult for some residents to chew. Of course V-8 or veggie juice (or veggie soup) is always a good alternative I assume standard hospital food is much the same, even with all the present knowledge we now have about fruits, veggies, fish etc etc.
