Al,

Cutting the tails of cows has nothing to do with CRON.

Mutilations have been practiced from time immemorial for aesthetics,

health, and punishment. The tails of poodles and doberman pinchers

are routinely cut off. In addition, the pointy ears of the dobermans

are achieved by cutting off the floppy part of the ear. Cats are

frequently declawed so that they will not damage the furniture.

Some countries today cut off the hands of thieves. The most frequent

type of routine mutilation for humans is circumcision for both males

and females.

People are frequently outraged by how animals are treated, but don't

react with the same compassion for their fellow human beings.

Hi All,

To see another reason why we might consider not eating land animals,

see the below from the New York Times.

The Unkindest Cut

By NICOLETTE HAHN NIMAN

As I walked through

the place with the farmer's wife, I noticed that the cows' tails had

been cut off and I asked her why. " Well, it's just easier to milk

them without their tails, " she explained, adding, " My husband didn't

like the idea, so I did it while he was away fishing for the

weekend. " I felt a warm rush of affection for her husband.

Hi All,

More CRONers are vegetarians than ad libbers, is this not so?

Humane feelings may be part of the reason, might it not?

Cheers, Al.
