[osteoporosis] " can usually be prevented by eating a calcium-rich diet

that builds and maintains bones; avoiding excessive caffeine which

robs the bones of calcium; avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol,

which are toxic to the bones; engaging in regular (age-appropriate)

weight-bearing physical exercise "

I wonder just what they mean by age appropriate exercise? I sent a query to

the contact in the link.

I try not to act my age....

Follow-up--

I heard back from the SC link regarding my criticism of " age appropriate

exercise "

terminology as not being very useful other than as an excuse for older people

to exercise less. They have agreed to reconsider such language in the future.

Sound like good folks.

On the salt front. I notice that Gatorade is increasing the amount of sodium and

potassium in a new " endurance " formulation targeted at replenishing electrolytes

in serious athletes.

They suggest their standard formulation will still be adequate for most

consumers

who don't work out that hard (It's a sweat thang).

I wouldn't buy Gatorade if I had all your money, and I don't see much difference

from dosing up on potassium, apparently I get enough. Salt remains a problem for

me as in not enough salt, so I periodically mix up a glass of dilute salt water.
