Does anyone have the data for Greece or Crete, compared with Japan or Okinawa? Rodney.
Guest guest
Hi folks: The answer to the above question appears clear from this table of, presumably, authoritative data. The answer appears to be " NOTHING " . Greece is not even in the bottom half of the world league table for cardiovascular mortality!!! To quote a very good friend of mine: " When all else fails look at the facts " . Here are the facts: http://www.americanheart.org/downloadable/heart/1107369676277Web% 20InternationalCharts2005.pdf http://snipurl.com/cxn7 Have a nice day ; ^ ))) Rodney. --- In , " Rodney " <perspect1111@y...> wrote: > > What Is So Special about the Diet of Greece? Guest guest
Whats so special? There was a period around the 60s, when Greece was ahead in the longevity numbers, but it wasnt all of Greece, it was those who were living on the Isle Of Crete. Many factors went into their low rate of CVD and CA, diet being one of them. Activity levels, hard work, low rates of obesity. In addition, they were eating at least 2x the amount of vegetables and 2x the amount of fruit we were, almost no meat, vchicken, dairy, and eggs, and they did eat some fish. But things changed. 50% of their population is overweight now and CVD and CA rates have gone way up. I dont understand how the Greek still get promoted Today as being 1) the healhtiest diet 2) the longest lived when that has clearly changed. The chart Rodney posted is the most current. Here is one a few years older from the Okinawa data. Scroll down around half way. http://www.okinawaprogram.com/ Jeff
