Guest guest
Hi folks: In the database table (accessed via the panel on the left of this page) that I set up to help measure 'fitness' I referenced the AHA webpage on the subject for instructions and other information. While the AHA instructions still seem to me to be fully valid, I am no longer convinced that the tables the AHA provides to assess fitness, using the one mile walk data obtained from following their instructions, make the most sense. So, I now suggest that, after following the AHA's instructions about how to do the one mile walk test (to be found on the AHA page linked in post #17452) the following webpage will better assess what the results mean, by determining your VO2max and then telling you the level of fitness your VO2max implies: http://walking.about.com/library/cal/ucrockport.htm Have fun. And add your data to the table if you wish. Rodney. [And don't forget the perhaps wise words of cardiologist Dr. Henry in his book 'The Exercise Myth' that: " ..... fitness has absolutely nothing to do with health " ]
