Guest guest
Trish, The data from the nutrition facts does not add up. Considering that each serving has 3g of fat, 16g carb (1g fiber), and 5g protein, then a serving should weigh approximately 3+16+5 = 24 grams. Maybe this is 1/3 cup, depending on the density of the powder. However, when we count the calories, we get 3*9 + (16-1)*4 + 5*4 = 107. A 24-gram serving has 107 calories when we add up the components at 9 calories per gram of fat, and 4 calories per gram of digestible carb or protein. Just the 15 grams of digestible carbohydrate have 60 calories. It would not surprise me if the label is wrong. As far as I know, no government agency checks labels, and companies don't get sanctioned for having incorrect labels. (just this one ingredient listed) Nutrition Facts: Serv Size 1/3 cup; Calories 60; [i'm only using 1-2 tsp at a time/per cup] Total fat 3g; Sat fat 2g; Cholest 0mg; Sodium 5mg Total carb 16g; Fiber 1g; Sugars 0g; Protein 5g; Vitamin A 0%; Vitamin C 0%; Calcium 6%; Iron 20%. I don't know how many tsp are in 1/3 cup, but my 1-2 tsp is just a fraction of 3g. Not very much fat or calories IMO. >>>
Guest guest
Wow, you're right! I relooked at canister to verify that I didn't make a mistake on the numbers in my email (I didn't). In fact, I see that next to 1/3 cup serving is "30g". And next to Calories: 60 is "Fat cal 30". It sure does appear that this product is mislabeled! Think I'll change brands at next purchase. Don't know what to say/think about this.. Thanks for pointing this out. .. citpeks wrote: The data from the nutrition facts does not add up.
