The question is what constitutes a SAFE level of exercise in terms of intensity or weight. As far as I am concerned, being able to carry my own weight in a normal manner and maneuver my body easily is THE right criterion for selecting the right type of exercise. Most of the exercises that I do, involve lifting my own weight against gravity. I do push-ups, crunches, chin-ups, and squats. I feel that these exercises, without added weight, are enough to keep me in good shape. If I want a challenge, I can always increase the number of repetitions.
