At the risk of sounding like a one note piano... the common theme

of inflammation rears it's ugly " red " head. " Inflamed " gums, " inflamed " joints,

etc.

I suspect most folks are already motivated to avoid arthritis and gum disease

so I don't see any useful advice there. Protein on the other hand seems to be

pretty

important (some argue more so) to CR'd individuals. While I'm not ready to arm

wrestle

the Dr's who posit the protein/heart disease connection, I am ready to suggest

that the

omega-6/omerga-3 ratio may be the bad actor here. Red (bad red again?) meat,

especially

when grain fed, is high in Omega-6 which is linked to increased inflammation.

We had a discussion on this a few months ago when the benefits of

mouthwashes (from a study) became public. I've used one every other day

since. My dentist says my gums are really looking good these days (they

weren't so good before). Amazing how a small change in one's routine can

make such a difference.

I can only assume that better dental health translates into better overall

health.
