Our research has so far identified 153 FDA-approved drugs that were discovered at least in part by PSRIs during the past 40 years (Table 1 http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMsa1008268#t=article .... Because our sources were not limited to products for which a public-sector patent was listed in the Orange Book, we identified 102 new molecular entities (including 8 in vivo diagnostic materials and 1 over-the-counter product) for which a total of 161 new-drug applications were approved. We also identified 36 biologic drugs and 15 vaccines that received approval under biologics license applications, for a total of 153 drugs that received 206 new-drug or biologics license applications.
