Guest guest
Hi, Bridget! Welcome. Just remember that all vaccinations carry risk. There is no such thing as a safe vaccination. I recently spoke with my children's daycare provider about this subject (my children are now 9 and 11). I was calling to tell her that my daughter had just been diagnosed with Long Term Chronic Mercury Poisoning from her vaccines (my daughter is Epileptic, Autistic and Mentally Retarded). We live in Connecticut. She was telling me that she recently had a visit from the state health department who wanted to make sure all the kids were up to date on their vaccinations. The health department has now told her that she cannot accept children who are not vaccinated. Period. No exemptions allowed. This sounds illegal to me, but to parents who need daycare, I doubt they would be willing to wait around to fight the health department (and for that matter, the State of Connecticut) over the regulations. I know the laws here in CT, but most parents are ignorant. At least you are educating yourself about this issue. In retrospect, I wish I had never vaccinated. I haven't allowed my children to be vaccinated in over three years. Both of my children have been damaged by vaccinations in many ways. Once you have done it, you can't undo it. My own mother still believes that it is necessary to vax. I am very resentful that she never questioned it as I have had terrible health problems due to the vaccinations I received. It has really been a lifetime sentence for us, and it always puzzles me when people tell me they have had no problems. I guess I always wonder if they know what they are talking about, and if they are just in denial. Usually if you start questioning people, you start uncovering things that they hadn't thought about as vaccination related. another New member intro Hi I am Bridget, stay at home, homeschooling mom to Steph 9, and Desirae 2. We have not vacc Desi at all, Steph was done to age 18 months(with the salk vacc even back then). I hear such conflicting stories, my dr says there is no mercury in any vacs anymore and really wants me to start Desi. I was not vacc, my mother and all her siblings were not. I guess you can say we are an anti vacc family. Just looking for current info. We dont have any homeopathic drs around here.... Looking now for what exemption I am going to use. They dont offer anything but medical and religious in my state. So I guess it will be religious. Was thinking of having Desi in a preschool next year, but am sure none around here are familiar with an exemption, and they dont even have to allow the child if there is an exemption, I think. Any experience with these? Private preschools dont have to follow any laws regarding this from what I have read.

Guest guest
great.. it sounds like you are on a good path... enjoy and welcome. This stuff seems so obvious, but apparently is obscure to the general public. I've been CRONing for about two years, but didn't know what it was called or that other people were doing the same thing. I had spent many lonely hours plugging away on Medline, trying to design an ideal anti-inflammatory diet in hopoes it would help with my recent-onset severe asthma. And boy did it! I'm in complete remission, taking no medications, for the first time in over 3 years.

Or > is it mainly based on specific food types? If the latter which foods > have you found to be the best? ***** > Hi, Rodney-- My anti-inflammatory diet started out being just lower calories. Then I noticed that taking fish oil (6 capsules/day) seemed to really help. I figured that when my calories are lower, my total fat is also lower, which was affecting the ratio of n-3 to n-6 fatty acids. This seemed to help dramatically, so I took a closer look at what kinds and amounts of fat I was eating during maintenance and bulking cycles as well, and adjusted those so n-3 would always have a favorable ratio to n-6. Big results, within days. Encouraged by this, I started using Medline to search for any studies indicationg that certain foods might have an anti-inflammatory effect, and then worked them into my diet. For example, I recently started adding tumeric to my egg white omelettes and tuna-veggie salad (and dyed my whole kitchen & wardrobe bright yellow in the process ;-). I figured that most foods that have lots of anti-oxidants probably have some anti-inflammatory action, so I try to include as many of those as possible every day. But I suspect the lower calories and the fatty acid ratios are the primary factors that have been most effective in breaking the inflammation cycle in my lungs so they could heal and settle down. It's amazing how much better I feel now that I can breathe. I have so much more energy, plus it's REALLY good to not be dependent on daily AdVair and Albuterol inhalers any more. > > ***** And if it isn't confidential, what antioxidants and other > supplements do you find useful? Thanks. ***** > Not confidential at all! The only supplements I take right now are a multivitamin, extra Vitamin C, selenium, and zinc. Plus of course the fish oil. I'm still in the process of trying to figure out if I need any others, what amount, etc. I've never used any sports or weight loss supplements, like creatine or ephedrin or yohimbine. Nor any illegal androgens or anything like that. My anti-oxidants all come from food. I'm particularly intrigued by synergistic effects. For instance, I sprinkle a mixture of sesame seeds and flax seeds wherever they'll be tasty (cottage cheese, stir-fry brocolli, oatmeal, etc.) after I read a study showing that the lignans in sesame seed may enhance the anti-oxidant activity of vitamin E and increase levels of gamma-tocopherol. I drink a LOT of green tea, with meals and between meals, mainly because I love it. But there does seem to be some evidence that it works synergistically with other foods...I just read something the other day about green tea enhancing the effects of tumeric. I'm looking forward to learning more and appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Cheers, -Liz
