We welcome you to the group!

Firstly, we NEVER advocate going under 1000 cal a day and Walford warns that

this is dangerous. That's MALNOURISHMENT, not CR. Where did you get the

notion that such a small number of calories was a healthy diet? It's

impossible to get all the necessary nutrients on such few calories.

We also advocate getting most nutrients from food, the way nature intended,

and not from supplements. The way that food combines nutrients, and the

wisdom of nature's delivery package is a subject that science is just

beginning to scratch the surface of, afa health benes.

You are quite bone thin. I am an inch shorter than you and weigh about 112,

also on a small frame. You should definitely NOT lose any more weight and

would probably benefit by gaining some. Hopefully that will happen when/if

you increase your calories to a healthy level. Our files suggest the

healthiest BMI is between 18 and 21 or so. Mine is about 19.

There is no Walford software compatible with a Mac but our file on " Nutrient

Tracking Software " gives several other options.

Hi Sky:

Francesca is right. Under 1000 calories daily is too low. But as

well as upping your intake it might be a good idea to get the

nutrient software and find out, by entering what you HAVE BEEN eating

daily, what your nutrient deficiencies have been in the past.

Then, having established that, in case you need it for future

reference, make sure you plug all the gaps that the nutrient analysis

exposes. And try as far as possible to plug the gaps with foods we

all regard as healthy. If you have difficulty plugging them all then

taking supplements for a couple of them makes sense. I supplement

principally calcium and zinc for example. You will probably be

surprised by what you find your deficiencies to be. I was when I did

it.

We do not yet know what the ideal body mass index is. But most

people think, based on what evidence we have, that below 19 may be

dangerous. It is great if your BMI is not the almost-30 number of

the general population. But it is probably best not to take risks on

the lower end either, until we know a lot more from human data as to

what is optimal. Right now the evidence is conflicting.

Good luck and welcome.

Rodney.
