Guest guest
Hi folks: Of course Dr. Walford did have the 'dropping ruler' test as one of his bio-markers. But I found huge variations between different measurements that I took of myself. Guest guest
I suspect reaction time tests have some utility but they may also be impacted by personal experience. To wit, and of course this is one (two?) rat anecdotal. A friend of mine, in fact the one who introduced me to Walford and CR, performed the ruler test on me years ago, long before I became restricted. He was severely disappointed when I beat him by a decent margin on the ruler test. He's several years younger than I am, " and " he was CR'd already. I speculate my active participation in competitive sport (racquetball/basketball) might maintain reaction times somewhat better than sitting on a couch and watching TV :-). Or maybe I'm just genetically predisposed to faster reaction times? I don't believe it was a true overall marker of my apparent age vs. his. Perhaps useful for comparing ourselves to earlier younger measurements (of ours), but even this may be somewhat distorted by current or past behavior.
