However blueberry juice, in previous studies, has been shown to produce similar effects. Trader Joe's sells unsweetened blueberry juice. -------------- You might try a large health food store. Our largest health food store carries several brands of unsweetened cranberry juice. If yours doesn't, they can probably order it for you at no extra cost. Most large health food stores will have relationships with distributors that sell unsweetened cranberry juice, and they can order it along with their regular orders. R.W. Knudsen Family is one company that produces and sells unsweetened cranberry juice in a 32- ounce size; they also sell many other types of juices to health food stores and supermarkets. Do you have a Wild Oats store where you live? They carry it where I live, and they have also special ordered items for me at no extra cost. A couple of alternatives: 1. Cranberry juice concentrate: our Vitamin World stores carry a very good one by Herbal Authority, in an 8-ounce bottle. 2. How about purchasing frozen cranberries? good luck bb
Guest guest
BB: good to hear from ya!! Thanks for the suggestion (although as I said blueberry juice is supposed to be as good) I do purchase frozen crans when in season and available. I've posted my recipe for cranberry sauce a couple of times. I buy in quantity, make them (with guar) and freeze for enjoyment throughout the year! on 7/11/2005 12:59 AM, RJB112 at rjb112@... wrote: 2. Guest guest
That brings up a point, that wasn't obvious before. Cranberries are boiled so they must add water and that adds to the "juice", I would guess. Everytime I look at a cranberry there isn't a lot of juice in it. I freeze fresh crans and use them in smoothies. Pkgs of frozen are probably blanched. Guest guest
Is cranberry extract in capsules not considered as effective? I have taken these for years and thought it was comparable to drinking the juice, or the liquid form of the extract you mention from Vitamin World. I would appreciate information on why the juice or liquid extract is preferable to the extract in capsule form. Sandy
Guest guest
One good reason to always eat the food instead of the supplement is that nutrition is a young science and they can never fit everything in the food into a capsule. Since we don't really know exactly how the nutrients in the particular food interact, better to use nature's product than a synthetic. Also quality of supplements vary. Their intention is to make as much money as possible and spend as little as possible on the product that they use in the capsules. on 7/11/2005 5:23 PM, Islandblue36@... at Islandblue36@... wrote: Is cranberry extract in capsules not considered as effective?
