Guest guest
Please remember that your dog is a carnivore, and feeding him/her a grain based diet (kibble) is not only biologically inappropriate, but it puts strain on the pacreas, causes dental disease, and is starving the dog! Feeding just salmon is NOT a balanced diet! I am worried that, over time, nutritional deficiencies will surface in your friend's dog. IMHO, the best way to feed a dog is balance over time, just like the way we eat. A variety of meats, or whole prey animals (if you can stand it) with the raw meaty bones is what a dog was designed to eat. Remember, dog food has only been on the market for about 80 years. Dogs have been eating raw meaty bones for the last 10,000 years. He feels he has seen improvement in the dog, but I repeat this is subjective and who knows. You may want to research the Purina dog restriction studies as they should discuss particulars of their apparently successful regime.
