Hi, Maco--

Do you feed them commerical food? If so, what kind? And what do you do

about the ON part, to ensure that cutting back on amount of food

doesn't shortchange them on nutrients?

One of my CRed dogs is starting to show signs of arthritis, and I'm

trying to figure out ways to improve her diet.

There's such an overwhelming amount of information to wade through out

there, I hardly know where to start.

Thanks,

-Liz

--I confess that I just load up their dog food bowls every other day with Purina

Beneful and whatever meat scraps my other family members have Left Behind (often

durned high-quality stuff, btw). Re What Would Be Best to Feed the Beasts, I

agree that between the various raw-stuff diets and everything else out there, I

don't really know whither to go further. But they're perky, energetic, and in

great shape since I started this about a year ago.

While I don't claim any scientific basis for this, a (CR) friend of mine with

an aging dog showing some symptoms of aging began several months ago to feed him

a can of salmon rather than the normal canned dog food. He feels he has seen

improvement in the dog, but I repeat this is subjective and who knows.

You may want to research the Purina dog restriction studies as they should

discuss particulars of their apparently successful regime.
