K.P: Read our files, especially the folder/files under " BEGINNING CRON " .

Forget about " set weight " . Nobody here uses that as a guide, as it is

unreliable.

You seem to be confusing cutting calories by 30% with losing 30% of one's

body weight. There is a big difference. We do not recommend that a 5'3 "

tall female go down to weighing 80 lbs or less, not at all. So whatever

you've been reading as you say below, you didn't read it here. If you are

near your " ideal " weight, you probably needn't lose much weight at all.

Read the " Beginning " files, read Walford's BT120YD if you haven't read that

yet, and follow what is said in the files. Many newbies have posted to the

list that they followed the regimen in the files and are doing quite well

with their programs.

BTW all newbies get a welcoming message which directs them to the files

where many of these questions are answered. So if you read that message

your confusion would have been cleared up.

Also: under no conditions should you go below 1000 cal a day (you mentioned

a possible scenerio where you would be eating 600-800 cal a day). that

would be starvation.

Thank you so much for your advice. I am very excited about this new

journey. I am still confused about what is meant by losing 30% of

body weight. If I go by set weight or ideal weight, it would still

put me between 77-91 pounds or so. My ideal weight, according to

medical news, is about 110 but my body likes to hover near 130. I am

not comfortable at that weight. I feel sluggish and less healthy. I

guess I'll just get started and see where it goes. I just like to

have a long-term goal of weight in mind. I don't want to lose too

little or too much. I may aim for 100-105. Sound good?

Wish me luck!

Read my initial answer to you again. Your response tells me you didn't read it. Here's what I said:

" You seem to be confusing cutting calories by 30% with losing 30% of one's

tall female go down to weighing 80 lbs or less, not at all. So whatever

Forget about weight! It's about calories not weight. No doubt you will lose weight anyway. Read the files and read Walford!!

Hi KP:

In the DATABASE section of this site you will find entries for 22 of

the people who post here, giving details of how long they have been

on CRON and their BMIs, WC/Hs, and BF%s.

Your target weight may best be judged by using all three measures,

and making sure you don't 'go overboard', 'beyond the safe edges of

the envelope' as they say in aviation.

Good luck!

Rodney.
