Hi All,

I eat for fish mostly pilchards. They seem to be low in the food chain.

According to Rusch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, pilchards are " very

shiny.

They have black spots along their back. When the Chinooks come in, you'll see

them

chasing pilchards on the surface. " But while pilchards are a tasty commercial

species, they aren't much of a sport fish, " They're plankton eaters. They

basically just filter the water for plankton and algae. " Pilchards are usually

considered to be a warm-water species, but they have been further north lately.

A

small commercial fishery was opened up on July 19, 2005.
