Guest guest Posted August 23, 2004 Report Share Posted August 23, 2004 Senator Feinstein has launched an online petition to ask President Bush to expand his policy on embryonic stem cell research, which has the potential to help more than 100 million Americans who have illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis aswell, as spinal cord injuries. At that time there were 78 stem cell lines available to researchers. Today, the number of stem cell lines has dropped to 19.Embryonic stem cell research is supported by 40 Nobel Laureates, 142 patientgroups, academic institutions, scientists and caregivers and 264 members of Congress.
