Guest guest Posted January 7, 2011 Report Share Posted January 7, 2011 Respected members, WHO Ethical criteria for medicinal drug promotion: The criteria define "promotion" as all informational and persuasive activities by manufacturers and distributors, the effect of which is to induce the prescription, supply, purchase and/or use of medicinal drugs. Promotional literature(PL) should usually contain: The criteria dictate that promotional literature should contain following information. 1) The name(s) of the active ingredient(s) using either international nonproprietary names (INN) or the approved generic name of the drug; 2) The brand name; 3) Content of active ingredient(s) per dosage form or regimen; 4) Name of other ingredients known to cause problems; 5) Approved therapeutic uses; 6) Dosage form or regimen; 7) Safety information: § Side effects and major adverse drug reactions; § Precautions, contraindications and warnings; § Major interactions; 8) Name and address of manufacturer or distributor; 9) Reference to scientific literature as appropriate Regards Dr Sanjay Yallappa Choudhari JR3,Dept of Pharmacology GMC, Nagpur Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
