Results explain " What did you find " in your research work.

It answers the questions which one asks in the Introduction.

Hence results must:

- Describe in detail what you found

- Describe patients/participants well

- Match your methods section with results

- Avoid unexpected groups appearing

- Avoid disappearance of groups/participants

Result section must:

- Describe the findings in words

- Describe the findings in a logical sequence

- Illustrate the findings with a typical example

- Build the interest of reader to read further

- Prepare readers to read the discussion which is to follow

Illustrations /graphs AUGMENT the written text.

Picture = thousand words

Illustrations /graphs should be self explanatory and able to stand alone

Avoid abbreviations in illustrations/graphs

What is shown in table should not duplicate in illustrations/ graphs

Usually expected results are reported in manscripts

One must REPORT unexpected findings

Also one must REPORT negative findings.
