Hello:

This week we launched a major initiative to help educate people about safer tattooing practices to prevent transmission of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, bacterial infections and other pathogens-Hepatitis & Tattoos. The heptitistattoos.org website will feature regular articles on tattooing and pictures, but the main message is that getting a tattoo is safe - as long as safety precautions are closely followed.

Additional articles and postings include:

"Supervising Your PPO Health Insurance Claims," by Jacques Chambers. In this month's column Jacques discusses the importance of becoming knowledgeable about PPO Health claims in order to make sure that you know what is and what is not covered.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Department of Complementary and Alternative medicine (CAM) released a Special Report on HCV and CAM. The Website and the special report on hepatitis C and CAM contain a lot of useful information about herbs, guidelines on dietary supplements and nutraceuticals (food or food products that provides medical benefit) with direct links to their Website.

Check out the list of the Top Ten Articles our viewers viewed in February to see if there is anything you missed of importance -HCV, HBV.

Be sure to check out our updated Drug Pipeline: Hepatitis C Treatments in Current Clinical Development

Lastly, we continue to provide brief overviews on some of the most compelling News Stories with direct links to the actual articles on our Blog and Websites-HCV, HBV. One recent article noted that the Food and Drug Administration plans to review the Merck and Vertex HCV protease data in late April. So the approval process is underway and let's keep our fingers crossed that the new medications are approved as soon as possible so that people can have access to these new and potentially life-saving medications.

Sincerely, Alan
