I don't know if this is a new lesion since 1/03, or one that was just undetectable and not seen on the Open MRI I had back then. As far as I'm concerned, this is now a baseline Closed MRI and I'll probably have to wait over a year for another, to compare with this one. > > I started LDN 4/17/03, 3 full months after the Open MRI they're comparing it to. But my 6/02 and 1/03 MRIs in an Open machine were identical, so I don't think a new 7mm lesion showed up since 1/03, it's probably just deeper than an Open will see. Guest guest
There has been much discussion of MRIs on this board over the last several months. I posted that I have had the same MRI read by 2 different sets of Radiologists with dramatically different " opinions " . The reports generated by Radiologists are most often the only thing a Neuro looks, with repsect to the MRI, and that report clearly is an " opinion " , and not stating a definitive fact. I have a relative that is a radiologist who told me privately that the reading of MRIs are far more art than science, and not only are subjct to the readers bias but also subject to the machine used, the operator, one's position in the chamber, etc. Comparing MRIs may be a good general indicator, but based on my experience one should be careful about putting too much emphasis on the results. Thanks for the post, as the more posts on MRIs and LDN are shared, one can only hope a positive (general) trend of statistical significance will emerge over time. Guest guest
Thanks Alan. My two Open MRIs (6/02 & 1/03) were the same, the Closed from last week shows basically the same except they found a lesion they didn't find on the Open. If/when I get anothe Closed, hopefully in a year, then we'll see how the comparison goes. Otherwise, how I feel, and how the neuro tests me, is what we need to go by, right? ----- Original Message ----- From: alanms1579 low dose naltrexone Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 18:42 Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re: My MRI 08/16 There has been much discussion of MRIs on this board over the last several months.
