Guest guest
Dear Kiran, I completely agree with your concerns regarding un-requlated sells of OTC medicines in India. Unregulated pharmacies in India often dispense medicines with no prescription and that's the reason people manage to obtain the medicines which require prescriptions over the counter at pharmacies.several studies have already reported deficiencies in over the counter medicine use. Unlike in developed economies, where pharmacies retain all prescriptions they dispense, weaker regulations in India do not compel Indian pharmacies to hold on to prescriptions even for prescription only medicines or those that can cause serious side-effects, such as antidepressants. There is need to strengthen the regulations so that all the pharmacies must retain all the prescriptions and also report sale of prescrption only medicines to governmental surveillance agencies. Are they really practically controlled in India? We know, most of the medicines are available OTC illegally in India. Pharmacies don't care to check for the prescriptions, and sell whatever is demanded. what about that? what can be done for that? kiran chaudhari
