Guest guest
Dear Netrumians, First of all I am extremely thankful to Vijay sir for giving me an opportunity to moderate an E-discussion on NetRUM. I welcome you all for the new discussion " Over The Counter Medicines " . Medicines that may be sold without a prescription, in contrast to prescription medicines, are termed as Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines.Over-the-counter medicines have to be primarily used to treat a condition that does not require the direct supervision of a doctor and must be proven to be reasonably safe and well-tolerated. As increasing numbers of OTCs are licensed to be sold over the counter, there is a growing need for both the safety of these medicines and their interactions with prescribed medicines to be carefully monitored. I request all memebers to kindly share their valuable viewpoints regarding Over the Counter Medicines (OTCs). Members can discuss about OTCs on the following points- -What are OTC medicines? - Criteria for granting OTC status to any medicine. -Impact of OTC medicines on Health -Factors influencing people for purchasing of OTC medicines. -OTC availability and self medication. -Areas of concern (Should Over the counter medicines be treated like all other medicines?)
