Guest guest
I just experienced a slipped band after a colonoscopy (had emergency surgery). Do not rely on local emergency rooms - most are unfamilar with bands. I had to be transferred between hospitals. I would contact Dr. Kuri's office, explain situation and request assistance. If you need to return to Mexico, they can assist with medical travel arrangements. If you need to be seen by someone locally, you want communication between the local physician and Dr. Kuri. Call Kuri's office first. Also -- money becomes no object when your health is at risk. It will all work out if you do the next right thing. )-m >From: " greenlakeinternationalhouse " <traciekb@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Need help soon! >Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 22:23:35 -0000 > >Hi there, > >I haven't been on the boards for a long time. Guest guest
Oh Betty...don't worry one bit! I have a history with Crohn's disease, so I get a colonoscopy every year. They will be no where near your port, tubing or band, so don't sweat it. You will want to show the doc where your port is so that he knows...sometimes they press on your abdomen to aid the hose in getting around a corner, and I don't think you would want him pressing near your port. Good luck! Sue In a message dated 12/19/2006 8:26:26 A.M. Guest guest
Hi, You've probably gotten lots of responses to your question but I use Dr. Neal in Olympia. 866-426-4142. Give them a call. He works with Dr. in Tijuana and other Mexican patients so is a good resource. Dr. and Dr. Kuri both work at Hospital Angeles. Good luck, Kelli -------------- Original message -------------- From: " greenlakeinternationalhouse " <traciekb@...> Hi there, I haven't been on the boards for a long time. I'm just a couple weeks from my 2nd year anniversary....banded by Kuri January 6, 2005. Anyway, I think I may need to find a local doctor in the Seattle area who may be able to take a look at my band. I have had difficulty eating for the past week and a half. I have not had a fill for a year and pretty much can normally eat whatever I want. (I don't, but I can). All of a sudden everything closed up. I couldn't even get water down. Guest guest
I'm going to piggy back on this because I'm too tired and weak to find your original post. No matter who you go through.PLEASE do get seen as soon as you can. Your story sounds just about exactly like mine. Well..there's differences but the band issues sound the same..I've been banded for about three years now. I haven't had a fill for two years because I've been busy having back to back pregnancies. I never had reflux before the band or the weight loss..I got it during the second pregnancy..I thought it was because of the pregnancy but then I had the baby (she's five months old now) and I still have reflux..in fact..it's pretty bad right now. I now can't even sleep without waking up in the middle of the night choking on acid..or it's now progressed to I am throwing up IN MY SLEEP.I'm not kidding..I know this is gross but I wake up and I have thrown up in bed. So it's apparently getting worse.and then everytime I think okay-things are calming down..it gets worse. Well..I could tell something was wrong yesterday so I put myself on liquids but then in the evening I couldn't even keep my water down..I threw it up. Same thing this morning. And I was so dehydrated I could hardly walk around, think or function. I'm not kidding.I was walking to the bathroom and fell down! No..I'm not drunk or on drugs. I just needed some fluid. WONDERFUL Dr. Neal's office helped me out and I just went in and got the fill completely taken out. Let's let it rest for a while. Sounds good to me! I know it seems scary during Christmas to not have a fill..but you have to understand.I was convinced I was going to lose my band. All day yesterday I was reading Jessie Ahroni's book about the band..convinced myself I had a slip or erosion. When I went in today I was crying..I was CONVINCED they were going to tell my band had slipped after all the throwing up from morning sickness and then I had the flu a week ago and then the throwing up last night. But she said it all looked okay-but maybe..just maybe if I let it all heal this awful acid reflux will go away and I'll start to feel better. The fill will be there once we are ready for more but personally I'd rather be without a fill and on liquids and still have my band then to just push it and push it and be the one who waited until it was too late and had to lose it anyway (and trust me..I'm already " spanking " myself for not getting in earlier)..I let my life get in the way but if I could make you feel the relief I feel from the water being able to go down and not feel that backing up feeling.yes.it would be good just to go somewhere where they have flouro and get it taken out. Dr. Neal is an awesome choice and I see that Kelli gave you his information and I'm sure the others listed are good too. Good luck! Fisher Olympia Grateful to have 2007 to look forward to with my band! P.S. if you want Dr. Neal's local number it is 360-412-3120 _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of 225Free@...
