Guest guest
I tried it and couldn't handle. I want to be so gentle with my body and it just didn't feel right to have my body jerked around so violently. I could handle it sort of, everywhere, put in my neck. Maybe I'm just a big wuss. But the again, I really didn't know if it was dangerous for a person with PA to be doing it, so that caused anxiety right there. Maybe I'll try it again. Guest guest
> the ex-hubby > doesn't agree. He thinks Chriopractors are nothing short of " voodoo > doctors " . He doesn't want me to pursue this. This from the man who > felt chelation was " voodoo " and now he can't say enough about it. The basic question is whether you will have legal or payment problems with the ex if you just do it. If so, have your attorney figure out how to get sole medical decisionmaking rights since what you are describing is your ex-husband interfering with your ability to heal his son just to be a jerk. As to chiropractic, I don't know. Give it a try. A few treatments should make it quite clear if it is worth continuing, just as they did with chelation. Andy . . Guest guest
I just saw my chiropractor yesterday. He treats my back, SI joints, neck, wrists, ankle and feet. I get hot packs, ultrasound and massage before the adjustments. He adjusts my wrists and feet about every third visit. I see him once or twice a month as needed. His job is to optimize my alignments and it seems to be working. I rarely need pain meds. I do diet, naturopathy and exercise as well. If your DC isn't comfortable adjusting small joints (mine even does toes) ask him to refer you to one who can. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. Guest guest
He will do small joints, but my husband is having such trouble with swelling that he has been leaving them alone. I'm glad to hear so many are using alternative treatments. He hates to take the heavy meds, but feels they are necessary. We just need to get started on other things, and hopefully all will fall into place eventually. Thanks for your input :-) [ ] Re: Chiropractors I just saw my chiropractor yesterday. Guest guest
Wow, my doctor only does my back and neck. I would love to find someone who works on the small joints but I feel funny asking my chiropractor for another one. Any other suggestions? Guest guest
We do and have found our chiropracter to be extremely helpful. After the initial first round of visits to get into alignment, we try to get adjusted every 3-4 months or if there is a fall or things seem out of balance. We use this doc for allergy treatments and other modalities too. Gaylen
Guest guest
Please be very carfeul if you go to see a chiropractor and you have RA. A combination of RA and the steroids that many of us take weaken then ligaments. Anyone who does any manipulations to any of your joints should be very careful. Manipulating the cervical spine can be very dangerous!! As a student in PT with RA, I do not let my classmates do any kind of manipulations on ANY of my joints if I am not feeling well. I only allow them to practice on me if I am feeling good. Massage is a much better/safer technique (and of course I recomment seeing a physical therapist lol) McK - VA Message: 21 Date: Fri, 12 Mar 2004 19:33:38 +0000 From: k.j.choate@... Subject: Use of Chiropractors- Anyone tried and gotten relief?? Has anyone tried going to a chiropractor? Our staff meeting featured a local well respected chiropractor- mostly tips on desk excercise, postures, lifting, etc.. My rheumatologist basically has not outlawed anything - as long as it does no harm- she says go for it. I have RA - do some yoga and the usually amount of drugs (MTX and Remicade and the dreaded pred and all the stomach meds that has entailed.) Anyone here tried a chiro for some symptoms? Any luck? Any problems?Thought if nothing else it could reduce some stress related stuff. (Still not sure about job/lay off status- and it has impacted on RA). Thanks and hugs,
Guest guest
, I see a chiropractor fairly regularly, but all my lesions have shown up on the brain. A good chiropractor will gently adjust your spine. You want to go to someone who comes highly recommended. ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
I know that when 2nd child was little....he couldn't walk at almost 18 months....they had put braces on his legs and he screamed in pain so bad that I refused to put them back on....they said it was because his legs were turned in and the braces and shoes would help. Well we took them off and he and his siblings thought they were a great toy....albeit expensive one. When he was 18 months old....I was talking to my chiropractor about it when I was visiting for a back problem...and he said to bring him in. When he examined him.....he was sooooooooo angry!!! My son's hip was twisted and not in joint correctly and was pinching the main nerve to his leg.....no wonder he was screaming! He adjusted his hips once...and my son was running before the week was out....we had one more visit to adjust the nerve that was pinched...but we never had anymore trouble except when he would be rough and tumbling around and get his back outta whack and then back to the chiro for a quick treatment.....we could tell as he would pee himself at night. My 3rd child was having ear infections every two weeks....a few days after the antibiotics were thru....she would get another one....we did this for over a year and a half. The doc was wanting to put tubes in her ears but I was not wanting it done. I was at the chiropractor's again and told him about her...and he said to bring her in.....she had that top vertebrae out and was pinching the nerves.....to make a long story short....1 treatment was all it took to stop the ear infections.....whenever her ears started hurting....I knew that she needed a treatment...but that was like once or twice a year.....amazing... Long story but I guess my point is why not....I sure am not against them!!! lol....Some are charletons....for sure but many are inovative drs trying to make a difference in a different way...I have had as much help from chiropractors for me and my kids as I have had from regular docs....nah.....I think the Chiropractors have helped more.....lol.....we see them less often!!! I don't like any kind of drs much anymore.....I have met a few that I think are really trying but most I have no use for. jmho Ronni
Guest guest
I have been using a chiropractor ever since my last of 4 children was born . That would be about 40 years ago when you really had to be careful. I have always made sure that I had a referral to one that I knew was well trained. I did not know that I had CMT until about 20 years ago . The long and the short of it is that I have always had great success with them. At first I only went about every 10 years but since I know have active e CMT 1 and also osteo arthritis in my back and my right knee, hip and ankle I go to chiropractor about one time a week and if I do not go I really notice the difference.
