Let¡¦s continue further with our discussion because before we jump to software we must have at least a fair idea of small mistakes that we can commit in referencing and manual management of references is also important so that we are through with the basics. Having covered in text Citing let¡¦s discuss References in Vancouver referencing style. 1. In text Citing 2. Med J Aust. 2003; 432:120-4. HOW TO CITE REFERENCES FROM JOURNAL ARTICLES? 1. Author's surname Initials, Author's surname Initials. 2. Title of article. 3. Title of Journal. [abbreviated] 4. Year of publication Month date; 5. Volume Number(Issue number):page numbers. e.g. line HA, Mader TJ, Ali FM, Cocchi MN. Year of publication Month date---2003; 4. Volume Number(Issue number)---21(2): 5. Page numbers 161-2 Please note „O After the first 6 authors you may add a et al. „O Note the placement of full stop, semicolon and colon in the references. „O If the journal has continuous page numbering, you may omit the month / issue number but if it is a non-continuous pagination journal (rare now a days) then you should include the month, date with the year and issue number along with the volume number. „O Abbreviations used in referencing have to be standard abbreviations and not what you feel like. IMPORTANT POINT-----Journal titles are abbreviated as per standard norms in: PubMed Journals Database. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=journals Aditi
