Guest guest
Hi all - am researching something (still having on again/off again bladder issues so researching all the various supplements I am taking to see if there might be any possible connection) and accidently ran across the following Question and Answer on a MS website - a Colorado Health service. Thought it was interesting so I should share it with you: Question: I have been reading about LDN (low dose naltrexone) and am wondering what your feelings are on this, or if you are familiar with it. It sounds very interesting, but I am a little leary of things that are a bit out of the " mainstream " . Answer: The use of naltrexone has not been well studied in MS so we cannot give you exact information as to whether it is beneficial or harmful or neither. If you read the web site, however, it states that it is an immune system stimulant and is used in patients with AIDs. If you think about MS, you know that the immune system is OVER active (increased production of t cells) especially with exacerbations. Theoretically, then, taking something that boosts the immune system would be counter productive. But, since this hasn't been studied, we cannot say this for sure. Kennedy, RN, CNP, MSCN, MS Center, Englewood, CO April 2003 What I found interesting is that this " expert " was, in April of 2003, giving LDN the benefit of the doubt. Funny how I have read thousands of pages on MS sites and never came across this before! Cinders P.S. - Last week I ran out of evening primrose oil (was on order from Florida!) and last week, all my off/on baldder issues completely resolved themselves. Didn't really think anything about it. BUT - I got my supplements in the mail yesterday, and this morning started up again with the primrose oil. Well - so far today (and it is only 9:15 a.m.) I have been to the potty 4 times!!! Anyone out there have any thoughts on this? Cause and effect or not???
