Guest guest
Hi Donna, I was on LDn last year and got my flu shot. I guess some people have a probelm with flu shots but I never did. I know how sick that I would be if I got the flu so I am protecting myself from it. I have had the flu in the past and it took me a real long time to get over it. Hope that this helps. Guest guest
I'm interested in what others say about this; my neuro tells me not to get one because it could cause an exacerbation. I got one years ago and was sick for the rest of the winter. I'd really like to get a shot because I like to go to ball games, and, of course, there are lots of people there. Guest guest
I will be interested to find out if it is ok to take with the LDN. I have not taken the LDN as of yet, because I am waiting for my family MD, for an appt. For those of you that are taking LDN, did you have any problem obtaining? God Bless! D. Guest guest
For the last three years I got my flue shot as my GP recommended it, I never had any bad results or caught the flue in the last three years either! Now that I read about mercury being used in these shots (as a preservative)I ask "why do I need more mercury in my system?" This year I will rely on my LDN to keep me healthy. Plus I have no children at home, that may be a biggie. Guest guest
Here is how I got my prescription. We did this for my brother also and it went the same way. I looked thru all the info on Naltrexone it,s history and who made, it how it works, all the drawbacks and then printed it out, After seeing the pile of paper and realising that no Dr. would ever spend time to read even a third of this I threw out all the repetative or not petaining to Dr.Baharis reasearch type of info. then I highlighted the critical lines and placed all this in a clear folder and took it into the Dr.s office with me.C/W testimonials. After greeting my Dr. and explaining my concerns with my progression of this disease , I am SPMS and was not on any drugs, I had his full attention. After all I came to him and was asking for his expert advice (never hurts to stroke their ego) and then explained how I found many testimonials about this new use for an old drug. Here in Canada it's really only known as Revia so we had to look it up in his compendium as such. This was a Dr. that was new to this country, had never seen me before, and even though he had never heard of this drug being used this way, he thought (rightly enough) that if he didn't prescribe it then I would get it from somewhere else. Today I am going to get a renewal of this prescription from my origional Dr. It shouldn,t be any problem as he sees how I am not loosing ground any more, He had to put that on my drivers license renewal so that I could still drive.. Guest guest
I never used to get the flu shot until I got CML 5 years ago. My doctor has be get one every year. Yes do it. But if you are concerned-ask your doctor. My husband does not get it. My grand kids do. But I think if we have it we are protected from getting it. Guest guest
Hello Jen. I have had only one flu shot about 5 years ago had bad sideeffect and since have refused them. yes my Oncologist highly recommends them. But no than you. I have not had the flu I do get colds but beat them in less than a week. I always use hand sanitizer when out in public and wash my hands upon entering the house. i also ask all that come into the house to wash their hands. Another thing I do not do is ever shake someones hand. I have grandbabies and am around them when they have colds but seem to not be susceptable to them. My dad keeps a diary and he has had a flu shot for the past 5 years. In looking back he has proof of having the flu within a week of having the shot. So this year he is not getting one. Good luck in your decission. Anita ________________________________ From: <jms30@...> Sent: Thursday, October 1, 2009 3:56:05 PM Subject: [ ] flu shot? Hi all. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I have never gotten a flu shot and I do have kids. Since becoming a CMLer for almost 10 years, I use probiotics capsules, which is that good bacteria in ones stomach, that can ward off colds and flu's. I make fresh goat yogurt for my family weekly, and they not only eat this with fresh chopped fruits but add this on the side of rice dishes. If you are not lactose intolerance, you can consume good quality yogurts which has live cultures of acidophilus and bifidus which are good stomach bacteria. I think Curtis advertises one on T.V. Getting a flu shot is a personal choice. If you have Dr. Tallman's email, you can write to him and ask him his opinon. If not send me a personal email, and I will look it up for you! Guest guest
I have had my flu shot every year since 1991. I had my shot on Monday for this year. Because I have several issues I am just waiting for the H1N1 vacine to become available as I am not to have the live vacine. I have not the flu in all this time so I think it is working. Guest guest
Hi Jen, You read my mind! I was dx last year and I did not get one and i was constantly battling a cold. I talked to my hemotologist and he highly reccomends it because my immune system is compromised. There is still uncertainty about H1N1 though.
