heart disease (IHD) is the foremost cause of mortality in many developed

countries and India as well. The annual incidence of acute myocardial infarction

for persons aged 30–69 years is estimated by the British Heart Foundation at

0.6% for men and at 0.1% for women. The magnitude of this disease’s impact is

expected to grow over the next two decades. It is anticipated that ischemic
